NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron held wide-ranging talks in Jaipur to further consolidate bilateral strategic engagement, especially in areas of defence, security, trade and clean energy.
The French president was accorded a red-carpet welcome in the Pink City that was followed by a Modi-Macron roadshow from Jantar Mantar to Hawa Mahal. Macron also visited the grand Amber Fort.
The visit shows the “deep mutual trust” and “unwavering friendship” underpinning Indo-French ties, a French readout said.
“President Macron’s visit will consolidate the ambitious renewal of the France-India strategic partnership that the two leaders decided on in Paris on July 14 through the ‘Horizon 2047 Roadmap’,” it said.
Horizon 2047 is a blueprint to significantly bolster the ties when the two sides will celebrate the centenary of diplomatic relations.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the Modi-Macron talks as “productive” and that they exchanged views on a wide-range of bilateral and global issues. “Taking India-France Strategic Partnership to greater heights!” Jaiswal posted on X.
“Productive discussions held between PM @narendramodi and President @EmmanuelMacron of France in Jaipur. The two leaders took stock of bilateral ties & exchanged perspectives on a wide-range of bilateral and global issues,” he said. Macron, who was the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations, ed also attend the ‘At Home’ reception by President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
