NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Team G20 at Bharat Mandapam on September 22 and sought to know the experience and learning of the thousands of functionaries who worked tirelessly to make the Summit a huge success.
He underlined the accolades that are being showered for the successful hosting of the G20 Summit meeting and credited ground level functionaries for this success.
“I am not concerned with the praise in editorials. But for me, real happiness lies in the fact that my country is now confident that it can host any such event in the best possible way,” he said.
Functionaries like cleaners, drivers, waiters, and staff from various ministries sat among ministers and officials of various departments.
He highlighted the importance of such successful execution from the human resource and learning point of view, adding that when an event takes place properly, it leaves a farreaching impact.
The Prime Minister said that it is the sense of the importance of enterprise and a feeling of being a central part of that enterprise in everyone is the secret of the success of such big events.
He said, “in routine office work we do not come to know the capabilities of our colleagues. While working collectively in the field, vertical and horizontal silos are removed and creates the spirit of a team.” He appealed to the audience for coming out of hierarchies in offices and for making an effort at knowing the strengths of one’s colleagues.
Observing that ministers and senior officers were sitting at the back with groundlevel functionaries in front, Prime Minister Modi quipped, “I like this arrangement as it assures me that my foundation is strong.” He elaborated this point by citing India’s contribution in rescue operations during calamities at a global level like earthquake in Nepal, Yemen, Turkey, cyclone in Fiji, sending relief material for Sri Lanka, Maldives, etc.
