NEW DELHI: Union Minister of shipping and waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, inaugurated a month-long celebration drive for the 8th National Ayurveda Day during a press conference on October 10 .
In his address to the media, the Union Minister stressed the importance of Jan Sandesh, Jan Bhagidhari, and Jan Andolan for Jan Arogya aspects of Ayurveda. He said, “For the 8th Ayurveda Day, the Ministry of Ayushintends to explore the potential of Ayurveda in promoting the well-being not only of human beings but also the well-being of the environment, plants, animals, and more. Therefore, the chosen theme is ‘Ayurveda for One Health’.”
According to the minister, this theme is aligned with India’s G20 Presidency theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The central theme for Ayurveda Day 2023 is Ayurveda for One Health, with the tagline Ayurveda for everyone on every day, emphasising its relevance for human-animal-plantenvironment interfaces.
Sonowal highlighted India’s commitment to the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He underscored that by harnessing Ayurveda’s potential, a transformative impact can be made in healthcare, addressing the concerns of One Health.
