Photos of picturesque snow-capped peaks of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand are de rigueur for travel magazines. A holy man performing a puja adds to the spiritual splendour of the scenery. If the holy man happens to be the Prime Minister of the country, then the pictures become priceless. And that is what we bring you here – exquisite photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing puja at the Parvati Kund in Pithoragarh.
PM Modi was in Uttarakhand on October 12 to lay the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 4,200 crore in sectors ranging from rural development, road, power, irrigation and drinking water to horticulture, education, health and disaster management. He shared his joy on social media on being able to pay obeisance at Aadi Kailash.
In glowing tributes to the people of the state and their role in preserving the integrity and sovereignty of India, PM Modi praised the valour of Garhwal Rifles and Kumaon Regiment, both of which form the backbone of the Indian Army. Reiterating that this decade was going to be the decade of Uttarakhand, he said, “Our Government is working with full dedication for the progress and ease of life of the people of Uttarakhand.” He also underlined India’s sporting prowess and talked about the joy of the all-time high medal tally in the country. Uttarakhand sent eight athletes in the contingent.
