BENGALURU: Chandrayaan-3 has reached closer to the moon and is all set to soft-land on the lunar surface on August 23. The ISRO said it successfully reduced the orbit of the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s Lander Module (LM).
The ISRO on August 21 released images of Lunar far side area captured by the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC).
This camera that assists in locating a safe landing area — without boulders or deep trenches — during the descent is developed by Ahmedabad-based Space Applications Centre (SAC), a major research and development centre of ISRO.
The mission objectives of Chandrayaan-3 are to demonstrate a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, to demonstrate rover roving on the moon, and to conduct in-situ scientific experiments.
