NEW DELHI: UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy’s just-concluded two-day official visit to India from April 29 to 30 signified a noteworthy progression in deepening bilateral relations between the two counties. Steering a high-profile delegation, Al Hashimy’s visit was dedicated to amplifying the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and nurturing closer bilateral bonds.
Al Hashimy held talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on critical regional developments and their ramifications for global peace and security. Present alongside was UAE Ambassador to India, Abdulnasser Al Shuaibi.
Jaishankar shared details of their meeting on X, saying, “Delighted to meet UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy. Discussed further steps in our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Also exchanged perspectives on the regional and global situation.”
Beyond the customary diplomatic engagements, the visit represented a pivotal moment in history, marking the second anniversary of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement on May 1. This landmark accord, a symbol of bilateral unity, has propelled a remarkable 19% increase in non-oil bilateral trade between 2021 and 2023, highlighting the tangible fruits of their enduring partnership.
Al Hashimy also met with Vinay Kwatra, Foreign Secretary. The two took stock of bilateral cooperation across various sectors including economics, commerce, development, culture, science, and technology. The two sides reiterated to work alongside, pursuing common interest, within the framework of international forums like the BRICS and G20 groups.
She affirmed that the exceptional achievements in bilateral relations call for further successes to achieve the common goals between the two friendly countries and their peoples.
She noted that the strategic relationship between the UAE and the friendly Republic of India is historical and solid, and the visit reaffirms the depth of those relations.
