LONDON: Zaiwalla & Co represented Dr Sali Berisha, former President and Prime Minister of Albania, in his legal battle against the UK Home Secretary’s decision to exclude him from entering the United Kingdom.
This notable case was featured in The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases of 2024 and was recently adjudicated by the Special Immigration Appeals Commission. The legal proceedings, which are currently subject to appeal, allowed Zaiwalla & Co to challenge significant claims and argue complex legal points concerning the fairness and legality of the exclusion process under the UK immigration law.
The issues in the case included: judicial review principles, assessment of evidence underpinning Governmental decisions and broader discussions about the impact of exclusion decisions on individuals’ lives and reputations.
