LONDON: “This is an incredibly sad day. Ivan was undoubtedly one of the finest leaders of his generation,” said Javier Ferrán, Chairman, Diageo plc, as the London-headquartered spirits firm announced the passing away of its Indiaborn CEO Sir Ivan Menezes, aged 63.
The company announced that Sir Ivan – who was knighted by King Charles III for services to business and to equality in the New Year’s Honours list – passed away following a brief illness, with his family at his side.
Born on July 10, 1959 in Pune, India, Sir Ivan held UK and US citizenship, and Overseas Citizenship for India (OCI). He was one of Britain’s most respected FTSE chief executives, transforming Diageo into world’s leading premium drinks company.
