Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid a virtual roadmap for India’s future in a series of post-Budget webinars conducted over a fortnight. We highlight the significance of PM’s blueprint for New India, and the role which every Indian needs to play in this transformational journey, in the Cover Story this week.

The ‘Saptarishi’ priorities, enunciated in the Union Budget, are the guiding light in India’s race towards becoming an economic superpower, says our report. The PM, it says, elaborated on these seven elements and explained how these will be transformational, in the series organised by various ministries and departments.

The report also includes nuggets from two webinars and dwells on key takeaways from these. The other front page report is about India’s twin glory at the Oscars. Coming after a gap of 14 years, and at a time when the country is riding high under PM Modi’s leadership, the Oscar wins by Naatu Naatu and The Elephant Whisperer have made every Indian rejoice and joins in the celebrations.

On the centrespread, we focus on Australian PM Anthony Albanese’s recent visit to India and his historic meeting with PM Modi. The visit, says our main report, is the fruition of the FTA, which is poised to almost double the trade between the two countries. The recent bonhomie, trade ties and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two major powers are bound to transform commerce and geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific region, concludes our report.

The other report takes off on Albanese’s remark that there can be no solution to climate challenges without India being at the centre, and stresses how it is valid, and relevant. The report then lists multiple steps that India has taken towards a sustainable future. Besides, we carry a report on the Australian PM’s assurance to PM Modi that those behind vandalism of Hindu temples in his country would face the “full force” of the law. PM Modi, according to our report, also pointed out how the Indian diaspora is making a significant contribution to the society and economy of Australia.

We revive our country-centric feature with a focus on Greece, which celebrates its Independence Day on March 25. In ‘A tale of two countries’, we talk about how India and Greece share common values and ethos, with both representing two of the most ancient civilisations on earth and their ties going back thousands of years. The report then elaborates on the bilateral relations. A related box focuses on the initiatives being taken by both the countries to boost their cultural ties.

The main report on G20 Podium is about the fourth Youth 20 (Y20) meeting, which was held in Pune, the ‘cultural capital’ of Maharashtra. The city has been a beacon of knowledge and culture for generations and it is an ideal location for Y20, said the minister inaugurating the meet. At a conference on Materials for Sustainable Energy, in Ranchi, G20 delegates discussed ways of working in a collective manner to solve energy challenges and reach net-zero carbon emission goals.

We have the report. Apart from all that, we come up with fresh packages on our Legal and New India pages, and a rich dose of weekly news.
