THE cross-border train service between Rajshahi, (Bangladesh) and Kolkata is set to resume after a 77-year hiatus. This announcement was made following a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and her Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina. This will be the 4th international train between India and Bangladesh after Kolkata-Dhaka ‘Maitree Express’, Kolkata-Khulna ‘Bandhan Express’ and New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka ‘Mitali Express’.

Since the announcement, people from various professions in the North Bangladesh region believe that the new train service will not only facilitate travel but also create a new communication link with India.
