SRINAGAR: The Valley witnessed a significant gathering of dignitaries as the Union Minister offor Science & Technology Jitendra Singh, and the Union Minister for Tourism & Culture G. Kishan Reddy addressed the side event on ‘Film Tourism for Economic Growth and Cultural Preservation’ during the third Tourism Working Group Meeting held at SKICC.
The presence of popular star, producer and entrepreneur from Southern film industry, Ram Charan, was the high point of this meeting. The actor praised the surreal beauty of Kashmir, emphasising the allure of its pristine landscapes and majestic mountains.The unveiling of the Draft National Strategy for Film Tourism becamea focal point.
Job opportunities
In his address, Singh expressed optimism about the youth of Kashmir who he described as “highly aspirational, sensitive, and forward-looking”. He highlighted the enormous opportunities presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives for the people of the country.
In his address, Reddy proclaimed that India will serve as a one-stop hub for film production, boasting beautiful locations, talented technicians, and state-of-the-art post-production facilities capable of creating awe-inspiring visuals with world-class sound effects.
Noting that several renowned national and international films have been shot in the region, Reddy shared the Government’s commitment to revitalising film tourism not only in Kashmir but across the country.
G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant shared PM Modi’s belief in the significant multiplier effect of tourism as a major job creator. He expressed confidence that the G20 meeting would lead to further job creation in Jammu & Kashmir.
