LONDON: The BAPIO Training Academy, also known as BTA UK, led by the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO), has struck up collaboration with the state Government of Uttar Pradesh in India to develop and provide world-class training and exchange programmes for Indian doctors and nurses.
The tie-up aims to meet the growing demand for effective and safe delivery of emergency care for the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK.
MoU with UP Govt
Prof Parag Singhal, BAPIO National Secretary and Executive Director of BTA, signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UP Government’s Health Department officials during a recent visit to the state as part of the delegation with UK Defence Minister Alexander Chalk. The Finance Minister and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of UP, Suresh Kumar Khanna, felicitated the delegation.
Dr Singhal said, “This partnership with the UP state Government is aimed at bridging the gaps in understanding of research, medical advancements, creating training and exchange programmes to benefit the trainees and both the countries – India and the UK.
“The BTA curriculum will be delivered by professionals who have been trained in world-class NHS hospitals. Modules on patient safety are incorporated in the course enabling trainees to practice the same in real life hence improving patient outcome.”
Advanced institute
BTA, with its Indian partners, aims to set up an advanced Emergency Medicine institute as part of its Indo-UK collaboration, where Indian doctors will receive excellent training in Emergency Medicine with the potential to be a part of the UK frontline workforce.
“With this partnership, we are taking a step forward in delivering and strengthening our commitment to promoting a continuous learning platform for our healthcare workers, enabling them to have access to outstanding learning tools from BAPIO Training Academy and an opportunity to get mentored and trained as per international protocols working alongside some of the most distinguished professionals in the UK,” UP government officials stated.
Earlier this year, the organisation also signed an MoU with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Mumbai, with the aim of building capability and capacity in the Indian health workforce and enhancing UK-India ties.
