EXTERNAL Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar held a meeting with Secretary-General of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Anne-Marie Descotes, further strengthening the partnership between the two nations.
The meeting took place alongside India-France Bilateral Dialogue on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation on March 4 in New Delhi. The deliberations delved into issues of disarmament and non-proliferation, spanning the domains of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.
The discussions also covered outer space security, conventional weaponry, integration of artificial intelligence in military operations, and lethal autonomous weapons systems.
During the bilateral meeting, EAM reiterated the resilience of the strategic alliance and expressed confidence in continued progress of initiatives such as foreign office consultations and strategic space dialogue, aimed at fortifying bilateral relations.
India and France share a history of close and harmonious relations, epitomised by the establishment of a Strategic Partnership in 1998, underscoring their shared perspectives on diverse international issues and their burgeoning bilateral rapport.
Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet, French Consul General in Mumbai, accentuated the robust nature of the India-France relationship during a recent interaction, underlining shared values and interests.
