Hampshire: Travellers in their hundreds have flocked to this year’s Wickham Horse Fair as crowds gather to watch street horse races and enjoy the local entertainment.
The event has been held in The Square in Wickham, Hampshire, for nearly eight centuries. Photos from the event showed attendees basking in the beautiful weather and watching riders race past.
The fair began when Roger De Syres obtained permission from thenMonarch King Henry III to hold a weekly market in 1269, and in the centuries since it has become a yearly event. Attendees say it’s an opportunity to sell and trade horses and meet up with family and friends.
