CHENNAI: India produced an emphatic show in the final group stage encounter trouncing Pakistan 4-0 at the Asian Champions Trophy on August 9. The outcome saw India finish as the leaders after the group stage encounters, while Pakistan are eliminated from the tournament.

Skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored twice, with both the goals coming from penalty corners. Jugraj Singh too got his name on the scoresheet, converting another penalty corner in the third quarter. Akashdeep Singh hammered the final nail in the coffin, tapping in a ball from Mandeep in the final quarter.

Pakistan were celebrating a goal in just 95 seconds after the start. The stunned crowd, watched the replay on the big screen after a video referral, and then erupted in joy as Hannan Shahid’s strike was disallowed. Thereafter, India went on the attack and never looked back as they dominated their opponents for the rest of the match.
