Deepak DwivediThe spectacular success of G20 Summit in New Delhi under India’s presidency was the best gift for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday, which falls on September 17. The entire nation was overjoyed by the mega event.

Positive results at such multilateral events are rare, but it was PM Modi’s intellectual acumen that ensured that the Summit outcome was hugely positive, contrary to people’s apprehensions. The G20 accounts for 75 per cent of world trade and 85 per cent of the GDP. In such a situation, PM Modi’s mantra of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, i.e. ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’, becomes very useful in the global scenario.

Also, the successful hosting of the G20 Summit has transformed the image of India before the world. There is no doubt that the credit for India’s economic progress, and bringing the nation’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage through G20 goes to PM Modi. Some people may question as to what benefit did India, and the Indians, got from it? The simple answer to that is that India successfully conducted more than 200 meetings of different groups in 60 major cities of the country. Many remarkable infrastructural development projects came up in those cities. Be it New Delhi, Noida, Agra, Varanasi, Kashmir or any other place, the development work done within a year has not only made these places beautiful, but accessibility to these cities, and facilities for the people living there have also increased tremendously.

The successful hosting of the G20 Summit has transformed the image of India before the world

The G20 Tourism Group meeting held in Srinagar brought a different glow to the Valley after years. It was because of PM Modi that such an international-level event could be held there after decades. This has sent a message to the world that after the removal of Article 370 and the division of the state, the violence-hit region is now moving towards peace and development.

Apart from this, under the able leadership of PM Modi, India wrote a fresh chapter of in the field of global diplomacy. An example of this is the New Delhi Declaration, issued unanimously by the G20 leaders. Also, many initiatives undertaken by India got world recognition.

India made the African Union a permanent member of the G20. On behalf of India, PM Modi had given a guarantee that he would get the African Union a permanent membership in the G20. Thus, G20 has now become G21, and G21 has become the second-largest international forum after the United Nations.

The other important outcomes of the G20 include the formation of the Global Biofuels Alliance and the agreement to build a rail-ship corridor between India, the Middle East, and Europe, which is being considered a response to China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The approval of the Biofuels Alliance on the very first day of the summit is being considered an important initiative towards a clean environment as well as economically beneficial.

Finally, PM Modi has made the world accept his principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas’. The success of the G20 Summit is being lauded around the world. Even China could not stop itself from praising India’s diplomatic victory in arriving at a consensus on New Delhi Declaration.
