PRIME Minister Narendra Modi met the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states and emphasised the need to increase outreach of Central government schemes. PM Modi gave several suggestions on further improving the governance in their respective states, emphasising on messaging of the welfare schemes for their better delivery.

Addressing a two-day meeting of BJP Chief Ministers’ Council called Mukhyamantri Parishad in New Delhi, which concluded on July 28, PM Modi also suggested that the Centrally-sponsored schemes were very carefully designed and tampering with them during implementation in states should be avoided.

All the 13 Chief Ministers and 15 Deputy Chief Ministers of BJP- ruled States participated in the Mukhyamantri Parishad. Such meetings were held time to time under the agenda of BJP’s good governance and it was the second such meeting in 2024.

The Prime Minister is also learnt to have spoken about the recentlyconcluded Lok Sabha elections and said the June 4 poll results should not “demoralise” the party leaders. The meeting was aimed at reviewing governance practices and welfare initiatives. The meeting was also attended by BJP chief JP Nadda and senior party leaders, Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, among others.

In a statement after the meeting, party leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said PM Modi emphasised the need to ensure saturation coverage of welfare schemes going on in the BJP-ruled states, saying they should be seen as an example of good governance. The Prime Minister also talked about making efforts to take the country’s economy to $ 5 trillion, by laying more emphasis on public participation in development programs and other efforts.
