NEW DELHI: The civil aviation sector has witnessed a major growth, with the number of passengers carried by domestic airlines growing substantially, a Civil Aviation Ministry study has said.

Based on the traffic data provided by different domestic airlines, the passenger count reached an impressive figure of 636.07 lakhs during January-May 2023, reflecting a significant annual growth rate of 36.10%, compared to the corresponding period in the preceding year of January-May 2022, during which the passenger count was 467.37 lakhs. The market share of IndiGo rose 390 base points in May.

The overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for May 2023 was just 0.44 per cent. A total of 556 passenger-related complaints were received by scheduled airlines during May 2023
