NEW DELHI: Naela Quadri, the Prime Minister of the Balochistan Government-inexile, has made an earnest appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking India’s support at the United Nations for Balochistan’s quest for freedom from Pakistan’s ‘illegal’ occupation.

On July 28, Quadri conveyed her request to PM Modi and the BJP Government, urging them to take a decisive stand in favour of Balochistan at the UN, recognising the pivotal significance of this moment. She emphasised that the current opportunity must not be squandered, as it may not come again.

During her world tour to garner international support for Balochistan’s freedom from Pakistan’s control, Quadri performed a puja at the VIP ghat of the Ganga in Uttarakhand, praying for her cause.

Drawing attention to the history of Balochistan, which was once an independent country, Quadri passionately conveyed her concern over its current illegal occupation by Pakistan. She highlighted the grave injustice and the atrocities being inflicted upon its people and exploitation of Balochistan’s rich mineral resources.

Quadri expressed distress at the plight of Baloch girls who face rape, and rampant destruction of houses and orchards in the region. She also accused Pakistan of colluding with China to further oppress the Baloch people. “Pakistan is not acting alone. It has also enlisted China to perpetrate atrocities on the Baloch people,” she asserted.

Quadri underlined that if India lends its support to Balochistan’s cause at the UN, her Government-in-exile would reciprocate by standing in solidarity with India when Balochistan eventually achieves independence. She emphasised the shared experiences of India and Balochistan, highlighting how both regions have endured oppression in the name of religion.
