NEW DELHI: The inauguration of Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan on July 26 also saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi releasing special postage stamps and coins to commemorate India’s ongoing G20 presidency.

India’s G20 logo and theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ form the theme of the G20 India stamps and coins.

Both the postage stamps are of INR 20. The first one is in gold colour and represents India’s diversity, inclusiveness, and rich cultural heritage. Inspired by the lotus, India’s national flower, the stamp’s seven petals symbolise the coming together of the seven continents as depicted in India’s G20 presidency logo.

The second stamp signifies togetherness and the collective will of G20 members to achieve inclusive, ambitious, decisive, and action-oriented outcomes under India’s presidency. The ‘seven hands’ on the stamp also represent the seven continents, reflecting the values of unity and inclusivity embodied by India’s G20 theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.

In addition to the stamps, marking this milestone of India’s G20 presidency, PM Modi also released two G20 commemorative coins in denominations of INR 75 and INR 100. These denominations symbolise the completion of 75 years of India’s Independence and the beginning of ‘Amrit Kaal,’ India’s journey towards 100 years of freedom.

The designs of these coins are stylised renditions of India’s G20 logo and theme, and each coin is made of a quaternary alloy of silver, nickel, zinc, and copper.

India took over the presidency of the G20 on December 1, 2022, and it holds the position for one year, till November 30. As the culmination of a series of G20 meetings and processes held across the country, the 18th G20 Leaders’ Summit is scheduled for September 9-10 at Bharat Mandapam, which is now India’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination.
