Sanjay jogThe Maha Yuti Government comprising Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena, BJP and Ajit Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party on Tyne inaugural day of the three week monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature on Monday tabled supplementary demands worth Rs 41.243.21 crore of which Rs 13,091.21 crore towards commuted expenditure, Rs 25,611.38 crore for plan expenditure and Rs 2,540.62 crore for state’s contribution towards various central government schemes. With three parties proposing to gear up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and increase their outreach across the state, the government has made substantial allocation to seven major departments. The urban development department, which is quite important ahead of elections to 15 municipal corporations including BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation, has received a lion’s share with an allocation of Rs 6,224.55 crore followed by water supply and cleanliness Rs 5,873.91 crore. In the wake of delayed monsoon affecting the sowing operations and water availability in various parts, Rs 5,219.80 crore earmarked for agriculture and animal husbandry, Rs 5,121.10 crore for school education , Rs 4,244.41 crore for social justice and special assistance, Rs 2,098.47 crore for public work department and Rs 2,070.66 crore for rural development department.

The government has earmarked Rs 1,622.51 crore for tribal development, Rs 1,597.81 crore for women and child development, Rs 1,187.80 crore for public health department, Rs 1,130.70 crore for cooperation, marketing and textile department and Rs 1,094.46 crore for home department. A paltry allocation of Rs 132.58 crore has been made for medical education and medical drugs department.

The state government’s contribution towards the much debated Jal Jeevan Mission will be Rs 5,686 crore, Rs 4,000 crore for state’s Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Fund, Rs 3,563.16 crore for payment of arrears of the instalments of 7th Pay Commission to teaching and non teaching staff from government aided schools and Rs 2,100 crore for the Metro rail stamp duty cess.

In addition, the government has earmarked Rs 1,500 crore for providing basic amenities in villages as per the suggestions of the legislators. A special provision of Rs 1,000 crore has been made for basic amenities in the areas of municipal corporations and municipalities. The government has earmarked Rs 1,000 crore to the ailing Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation for relief in fare and financial assistance.
