shindhu jhaNEW DELHI: The BJP will be launching a month-long ‘Maha-Jan Sampark Abhiyan’ from May 30 to commemorate nine years of coming to power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken oath for the second time on May 30 in 2019.

The primary objective of the campaign is to spread awareness about the Government’s work and to activate party cadre. Under this programme, 16 lakh BJP workers will go door-to-door across 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, interact with identified groups and meet senior party members.

PM Modi will kick off the campaign with a huge rally on May 30, sources said, adding that the second rally of the PM will be held the next day. A total of 51 rallies of senior BJP leaders have been planned across the country.

To ensure the success of this campaign, multiple ‘National Campaign Tolis’ comprising two members (a Central minister and one national office bearer) will be formed which will guide the 14-member ‘National Toli’. State tolis will have seven members, district level six members and mandal or block level tolis will have four members. Tolis in Hindi means a small group.

The campaign has been divided into three phases — the first phase will deal with selection of members for these tolis and their training. The second phase will run from May 29 till June 20 in which campaign activities in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha will be carried out.

In the last phase, from June 20 to June 30, a door-to-door mega outreach involving booth-level interactions will be undertaken. Reaching out to the media will be a prominent part of this campaign.

Connecting with beneficiaries of government schemes through labharthi seminars and conducting vikas teerths are among the prominent activities to be conducted during the outreach which comes ahead of elections in Telangana, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh this year.

The unprecedented scale of the connect plan also comes ahead of the 2024 general elections when PM Modi will defend his term for the third time. On June 25, after listening to the Mann Ki Baat programme at each booth across the country, the BJP will screen a documentary on Emergency which was imposed in 1977 by the Indira Gandhi-led Congress Government.
