NEW DELHI: Delhi-NCR experienced a much-needed respite from the sweltering heat as rain showers brought relief to the region after the national capital recorded its highest-ever temperature. Mungeshpur, a locality in northwest Delhi, logged an unprecedented maximum temperature of 52.3 degrees Celsius, the highest ever recorded in the capital, officials confirmed.
Over the past few days, Delhi has been struggling with severe heat, with maximum temperatures hovering around 50 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures nearing 30 degrees. The (IMD) had issued warnings about extreme heatin most parts of the city.
Despite the scorching heat, the city experienced unexpected showers this afternoon, offering some respite. Around 2:30 pm, the weather station in Delhi’s Mungeshpur recorded the unprecedented high of 52.3 degrees. Two hours later, rain began to fall, cooling down the overheated city.
