X LINKS First Ltd has unveiled a $14.1 million infusion from Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), a pan-African infrastructure solutions provider, to propel the advancement of Xlinks’ Morocco – UK Power Project aimed at delivering affordable, reliable, and clean energy from Morocco to Britain within the next decade.
Upon completion, the project’s wind and solar capacity will furnish 3.6 gw of accessible, dependable, clean energy to satisfy 8 pc of Britain’s existing electricity demand – equivalent to powering 7 million households.
Situated in southern Morocco, the novel electricity generation and battery storage facilities will be exclusively linked to Britain through a 4,000 km network of HVDC sub-sea cables.
Headquartered in UK, Xlinks is a provider of low-cost clean energy to Britain with projects including a solar and wind facility in Morocco.
Thrilled about the AFC’s investment in its project, James Humfrey, CEO of Xlinks First, said “Securing AFC as an investor is a significant step forward in the development of the project. We are excited to be partnering with AFC.”
“Africa, with its immense renewable energy potential and vast natural resources, stands at the forefront of global net zero aspirations. Xlinks’ Morocco-UK Power Project exemplifies this pivotal role, said Samaila Zubairu, AFC President & Chief Executive Officer.
