NEW DELHI: During his two-day visit to India on March 28-29, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba described India and Ukraine as “two big friendly nations.”

He expressed satisfaction with his “sincere and comprehensive” discussions with his Indian counterpart on bolstering bilateral ties, aiming to restore the cooperation levels that existed before the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Kuleba underscored the significance of his country’s relationship with India in global development and security. “India and Ukraine have been traditional friends, but I think there is much more that we can do,” he said.

“We will be looking forward to restoring what had existed before the largescale invasion of Russia in Ukraine began… existed between us. We will be looking forward to discussing new areas and projects of cooperation. Because I do believe that this relationship has a strategic perspective,” Kuleba emphasised.

After the meeting, Kuleba highlighted their discussions on the ‘Peace Formula’. He shared on X: “In New Delhi, I had sincere and comprehensive talks with @DrSJaishankar about Ukrainian-Indian bilateral relations, the situation in our regions, and global security. We paid specific attention to the Peace Formula and the next steps on the path of its implementation.”

The Peace Formula, proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2022, lays out 10 principles aimed at securing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. During their talks, both ministers co-chaired the Ukrainian-Indian intergovernmental commission review meeting. Kuleba affirmed their commitment to restore cooperation levels prior to the conflict and explore new avenues for collaboration.
