NEW DELHI: Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Aleinik, landed here for an official visit from March 11 to 13. During his stay, he engaged in meetings with key leaders and ministers to foster discussions on enhancing India-Belarus bilateral ties.

Aleinik’s engagement included a meeting with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar on March 12, focusing on avenues to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in defence development.

Reflecting on the discussions, Jaisankar emphasised the comprehensive nature of their exchange, encompassing political, trade, and economic aspects. In a post on X, he lauded the success of the meeting, stating: “A good meeting with Foreign Minister and Special Envoy for relations with India, Sergei Aleinik of Belarus. Took stock of our bilateral political, trade and economic ties.” The leaders also explored collaborative prospects in development partnerships, defence, science, technology, and education, highlighting the diverse facets of the Indo-Belarusian relationship.

Furthermore, the deliberations extended to regional dynamics and cooperation within prominent multilateral forums such as the NonAligned Movement, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and the United Nations, underscoring the joint commitment to addressing global challenges collectively.
