NEW DELHI: The External Affairs Minister had a busy week as South Block saw many high-level visits. One such highly anticipated visit was that of New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Winston Peters, who was on an official visit to India from March 10 to 13 at the invitation of External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar.

Peters met his counterpart, Jaishankar, on March 12 in New Delhi. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to further expanding bilateral ties. The deliberations included aspects related to trade, education, migration and mobility, cultural diplomacy, climate, and health.

Peters landed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on March 10, and the next day he had a meeting with Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. They discussed the establishment of a joint committee to strengthen cooperation between the two sides.

They also discussed potential collaboration between Gujarat and New Zealand in education and other sectors. The Deputy PM showed interest in collaboration with Gujarat in fields like agribusiness, maritime coordination, food security and dairy farming, according to a statement released by the state Government. Peters also visited Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar and performed puja there.
