ZIMBABWE and Egypt are set to bolster collaboration in the realm of housing and social amenities, heralding a substantial upswing in the local construction industry and further fortifying the robust political ties between the two nations.

The recent signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signifies a significant stride wherein Zimbabwe will harness Egypt’s expertise to deliver top-tier and affordable housing solutions nationwide.

Representing Zimbabwe, National Housing and Social Amenities Minister Daniel Garwe formally inked the agreement in Cairo, while Egypt was represented by Utilities and Urban Communities Minister Assem alGazzar.

Minister Garwe underscored the MoU’s primary objective — to foster collaboration in providing sustainable, affordable, and functional low to medium-cost housing, incorporating novel building technologies.

As Zimbabwe pushes forward under President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, anchored in the National Development Strategy 1, the nation intensifies its focus on infrastructure development.

The MoU, a testament to the amicable relations between the two African states, builds upon the established bilateral cooperation framework, paving the way for mutual benefits.

The MoU articulates the need to broaden, deepen, and consolidate relations within the bilateral cooperation framework, citing the advantages emanating from such collaboration.
