LONDON: Namaste London, an event held as part of the mission titled ‘Charting Goodwill: India’s Global Odyssey’, saw people of Indian origin adopt resolutions on behalf of the diaspora community to contribute more strongly to a progressive India.
The ‘Namaste London: Resurgence of New India’ event, organised by the Indian Minorities Foundation, marked the fervent desire for active contributions of the Indian diaspora to their home countries. It was coordinated by IMF convenor Satnam Singh Sandhu and co-founder Professor Himani Sood.
The event was held at the House of Commons complex and it included the launch of ‘Igniting Collective Goodness: Mann Ki Baat@100’, which chronicles Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s broadcasted address in All India Radio since October 2014.
“Prime Minister Modi has made this a central pillar of his global strategy, the outreach to the UK, the prioritisation of the diaspora, the prioritisation of partnerships with our own siblings who live far away from us in India, that is all of us. The prioritisation of development for every single Indian and to leave no single person behind and to reach out to every community from Kohima to Kutch, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari is the priority of the Prime Minister,” news agency PTI quoted Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami as saying.
The goodwill event aims to boost India’s cultural, literary and political bonds across the globe and also help in nation-building, IMF said in a release on the occasion.
