MUMBAI: In a testament to the enduring diplomatic relationship between Oman and India, the two countries established their respective embassies in the early 1970s.
Oman’s Embassy in New Delhi was established in 1972, followed by the inauguration of the Indian Embassy in Muscat in 1973.
These milestones marked the beginning of a robust exchange of high-level visits and the signing of several bilateral agreements across various spheres of cooperation.
The Sultanate of Oman’s Embassy in India is currently under the distinguished leadership of Ambassador Issa Saleh Abdullah Alshibani. In addition to his role as the Ambassador to India, he also serves as the Non-resident Ambassador to Afghanistan, Maldives, and Nepal.
Ambassador Alshibani embodies the essence of diplomatic collaboration, facilitating cooperation, fostering mutual understanding, and nurturing friendships between the two nations. He officially presented his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu on February 24 this year.
The ambassador’s tenure has been marked by a continued commitment to enhancing diplomacy, facilitating cutting-edge information and communication initiatives, boosting economic ties, promoting cultural exchange and education, providing consular assistance, and offering crucial crisis support.
As a bridge between Oman and India, Ambassador Alshibani plays a pivotal role in advancing longstanding relationship between the two countries. His contributions extend to orchestrating regular highlevel visits between leaders and senior officials.
