NEW DELHI: Armed forces and their valour is usually associated with occasions like the Independence Day or the Republic Day when nationalistic fervour takes over every citizen of the country. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi never forgets to remember the security forces when they probably miss their families the most – on the festival of Diwali.

On a day when the entire country chills at home and celebrates the festival of lights with their loved ones, the sepoys on the border brave the cold, and the enemies, to keep us safe and secure. One person who has been keeping them company for the past 10 years on this day is PM Modi who makes it a point to celebrate Diwali with the jawans.

This year, on November 12, which was the day of the Diwali, the Prime Minister went to Himachal Pradesh’s Lepcha region which borders with China and where troops of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the Indian Army are stationed. Last year, PM Modi had celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Kargil and paid tribute to those who had lost their lives in the 1999 war. Blitz India offers glimpses of PM Modi’s Diwali celebrations with jawans at various borders across the country.
