NEW DELHI: The Centre is planning to bring a law against organised ‘mafias’ engaged in leaking question papers of competitive examinations for government jobs and for admission to Central educational institutions. This will help thousands of deserving government job aspirants and students who are put at a disadvantage due to undetected leaks or suffer on account of cancellation of the exam at the last moment or endless litigation.
Among the examinations that may come under the purview of the antipaper leak law are ones conducted by UPSC, SSC, RRB and other government agencies besides entrance tests like JEE, NEET and CUET.
According to sources, the issue was approved by the Union Cabinet at its meeting last week. The thrust of the bill will be on cracking down on the organised syndicates involved in unfair means to get access to the test papers and pass them on to candidates for a consideration. “Government in no way intends to penalise the examinees,” an official said.
